About Us
Kanishka's Restaurant name was derived
from King Kanishka who was a great King who lived in 78 AD-144 AD.
Kanishka was a tolerant King and his coins show that he honored the
Zoroastrian, Greek , and Hindu deities as well as the Buddha. During his
reign contacts with the Roman Empire led to significant increase in the
exchange of ideas and trade; perhaps the most remarkable example of the
fusion of Eastern and Western influences in his reign was Gandhara
School of art, in which Greco- Roman classical lines are seen in images
of the Buddha. His empire extended to part of China, Afghanistan, and
Northern part of India covering Patna. He practiced advanced trade
policies. His close friendly cultural ties with the Chinese Empire has
influenced both cultures in knowledge and arts.
